Balkan Dance Night with 'Balkanics'

Get dragged onto the dance floor as Balkanics bring their hypnotic energy of Macedonian/Balkan live music to the Lawson Mechanics Institute on Sat, Nov 4. Doors open 7pm.

Featuring five accomplished musicians; Anthony Pizzicaon the rezouki & tambura, Linsey Pollak on the sax, gaida & clarini, Philip Griffin keeping on the electric bass & tambura, Ric Halstead on the sax & flute and lastly Tunji Beier on the drums.

".... the complex rhythms were mind-boggling, and the consummate skill of each musician was absolutely awesome." - Mike Lean (May '17).

The band has been improvising together for several decades mastering the Balkan rhythms from the region of Macedonia. You’ll intoxicated by the fast tempo rhythms and the myriad of instrumental brass.
