Dragon Bringing Fireworks to Winter Magic Festival - blog post image

Dragon Bringing Fireworks to Winter Magic Festival

Thoroughly engrained into the Aussie psyche since they formed in 1973, Dragon are still flying strong with the addition of local drummer Pete Drummond over 10 years ago.

“I grew up in the Mountains, I had a band with my brother and we’d play at Leura Fair and Youth Centre Jams,” Pete reveals.

He was constantly touring with bands like Wendy Matthews after he left school, which was when Todd Hunter (Dragon’s bassplayer) called him in 2006 and said he was putting the band back together. “It’s still such a creative band, and since inception has survived so much – it’s like an unstoppable force of nature. The songs are such a huge part of people’s lives - it’s part of Australian culture.”

This is one of the first years Pete has been here for Winter Magic, he says “I went to the very first one, then moved away and I’m interested to see how huge it’s become!”

Festival Main Stage: 6.45 - 7.30pm

Remember the Hits:

April Sun in Cuba (77)

Are you Old Enough (78)
