New Album + Tour: The Cactus Channel's sounding sharp!

In celebration of their new album ‘Stay a While’, Melbourne band, The Cactus Channel will be performing live at the Baroque in Katoomba on Nov 30 as part of their Australia wide tour.

I’d say three is Cactus Channel’s lucky number with Stay A While, the group’s third studio album, successfully driving the band into uncharted territory. Stay a While, turns the band’s traditional soul & funk gears up a notch landing into some heavier, darker and more mature tones — a decisive turning point for the band creatively.

It's evident The Cactus Channel are entering an era of unbridled freedom, completely unleashed from their earlier captivity of instrumental soul funk, venturing into the wild great beyond of tones. The band’s energy soars in the new dreamlike soundtracks, electrifying wig-outs and enchanting woozy meditations.

Succulent songs like the fresh single 'Leech' add a new silvery dimension with band member Lewis Coleman stepping up to the mic, for the first time. The lyricism seen in leech is emotionally engaging, addressing all those stewing feelings that leave you raw after a breakup. As Lewis puts it Leech is about “those feelings that don’t go away, and pop up at unexpected times”.

The band’s original concoction of soul and funk is still there, their psychedelic paths have just deepened and have more weight and substance. Since perfecting their signature sound, the group have had a busy year, with hyped shows at Bigsound and as national tour support for City Calm Down.

Go to the dark side on Thursday Nov 30, 8 pm and catch The Cactus Channel live at the Baroque Room in Katoomba.
