Katoomba's Palais Royale Hotel is well on its way to becoming a premier burlesque, cabaret and variety show venue for the Blue Mountains, also known for regularly hosting events such as The Goon Show Live and murder mysteries with events company Entertainment Blue Mountains. On January 18th, The Swell Sisters, Mandy, Jo and Ruby, will grace the stage to deliver a nostalgic set of 1960s vocal favourites from the likes of The Supremes, Dusty Springfield and Aretha Franklin! As the trio themselves put it, 'sizzling voices and cheeky personalities in a show brimming with hit songs, to channel the Sweethearts of the 60s'. The Swell Sisters have performed at a range of Australian outdoor festivals and venues from Doltone House, Blacktown Workers Club, Evans Theatre to Wollongong Town Hall, the members themselves having worked alongside such charting acts as Culture Club, Bananarama, Powderfinger and Tina Arena. With the grand ballroom of the Palais Royale in transition to become Le Salon Grand, an exciting run of fresh variety shows are currently in the works for mountains and urban audiences. Stay tuned, ladies and gentlemen!
