Blue Mountains man Claude Hay is one of the leading lights of the Aussie festival scene and boasts a slew of loyalists from coast to coast. After 12 years, 4 albums and countless shows and festivals, Claude shows no signs of slowing down as musician or innovative luthier.
Wherever Claude goes his musical inventions go with him. He's a master of DIY, and most of his rig is tailor-made for his one-man looping set that features at his shows. All of Claude's stuff is made at home, custom, and difficult to fathom. The centrepiece of any Hay touring rig is his guitar – often made from found items, with several pickups, outputs, and necks; his new concoction is no exception – a banjo-shaped, semi acoustic, fretless bass/6 string double neck combo that he's named Bessie.
Having returned from a string of shows in the UNESCO city of Bern, Switzerland, Claude Hay will be hitting the road again back in Australia this October, performing both his world-renowned one-man band show as well as taking his 3-piece band and new axe along for the ride.
