Sunday Session Showcases Jazz from Mike Nock Trio

After successfully launching onto the local live music scene with a sensational show from The Catholics, the 'Sunday Sessions' continue with jazz heavyweight group Mike Nock Trio ready to perform this September.

On Sunday September 17th surround your senses with Nock’s infectious musical energy and enthusiasm. Pianist/composer Mike Nock’s career has spanned a broad range of contemporary music genres and he is widely recognised as an important voice in Australian modern music. Mike spent 25 years in the USA working, touring and recording with many of the world’s top jazz artists, and has been the recipient of many awards and honours over his lengthy career, including Australia’s most valuable individual music award - the Don Banks Music Award. In 2009, he was inducted into the Bell Awards Australian Jazz Hall of Fame and in 2004 presented with the New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM). His current trio features bassist Brett Hirst and drummer James Waples and is regarded as one of the top modern jazz groups in Australasia.

“Nock is quite simply, one of the unsung piano heroes of the past fifty years”.
AllaboutJazz (USA).
