High Tea concert will elevate the senses

Elevate your senses with an afternoon of seat swapping, hand crossing bravura and extravagant high tea when the grandest hotel in the Blue Mountains hosts renowned pianists Kristian Chong and Grace Kim on Saturday, August 19.

Visitors to the Hydro Majestic Hotel at Medlow Bath will see why four hands are better than two when the duo performs Mozart's Sonata in D K381, Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, Petite Suite (Debussy), Sonata (Poulenc), Hungarian Rhapsody No.2 (Liszt) and Compton's C.S Chopsticks variations from 12pm to 1pm.

The program will follow an indulgent three-tier repast of gourmet sandwiches, warm fluffy scones, delicate pastries and the finest selection of handmade desserts served with Vittoria Coffee and La Maison Du The teas served from 10.30am to 12pm. Cost: $65pp.

The high tea concert is just one of a string of musical events which hotel owner Escarpment Group has rolled out during 2017 to reignite the decadent mischief and culture that was a feature of original Hydro Majestic owner Mark Foy's tenure in the early 20th century.

Escarpment Group general manager Ralf Bruegger said: ``Foy's `Palace in the wilderness', the Hydro Majestic was the place to be for those wanting to indulge in naughty frivolity.

"Today too, our guests can be as mischievous as they like but please remain elegant at all times.''

Next on the events calendar, the Blue Mountains Opera Festival will return during the October long weekend (September 30 to October 1) with two high tea performances and a gala dinner featuring some of the best musical talent in the country.
