Spring treats: The Garden of Earthly Delights festivities at Mt Tomah

Kicking off November 11th & 12th, The Garden of Earthly Delights will be celebrating the 30th Birthday of Blue Mountains Botanical Gardens (BMBG) Mt Tomah in arty style. The celebrations proudly boast a line-up of new works from talented visual and performing artists of the Greater Blue Mountains creative community.

Thanks to the financial help of BMBG Mt Tomah and plenty of local support, this glorious weekend will feature approx. 50 visual and performing artists a day. These artists will be unleashing their creative prowess on stage as well as at the many hot-spots found around the 28-hectare grounds, including formal gardens, rockeries, pools, lawns fringed with colorful shrubs and arbors. So, no need to fret, there’s going to be plenty of space to wonder about and listen to an intimate performance or two from the musicians and performing artists.

The multi-art event also includes an Aboriginal Welcome Ceremony, music ensembles, songsters, soloists, poets and performance artists throughout the gardens, environmental installations, art exhibitions, and even the occasional circus act. There will be plenty of festive food options available as well as loads of creative activities for kids wanting to take part in the celebrations.

The opening event, a Welcome to Country and performance, will be presented by Darug cultural leaders, recognising the living traditions of the past and present custodians of this country. An art exhibition Botanica and Birdlife  (running from November 1-30), showcases exciting, newly created art by 15 selected artists - expect the unexpected!

Artists and performers showcases will respond to the natural environment of the botanic garden, this site-specific work will be documented through print and digital media creating a historical record of art and culture of the greater Blue Mountains region, whilst engaging artists financially the event is a promotional showcase that will benefit our large BM creatives.

If you would like to show your support by contributing a penny or two head to the Australian Cultural Website, Here. Funds will be used to pay artists directly. Darug Dreamtime Stories will be documented with a view to publishing. BMBG hopes that continued support from the community will allow The Garden of Earthly Delights event to occur annually.
